President: John Howard

John is the president and founder of A2Z Music Factory, based in Herndon, VA. John started his DJ career when he was 16 in Johnstown, PA. At the age of 18 he created A2Z Music Factory and performed his first wedding reception. After working his way through college as a DJ at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in the fall of 1998 he moved to the DC Metropolitan area. While working as a consultant in DC, John realized that his real passion was to create wedding receptions that brides would talk about for years to come. In 2006 John joined the ADJA DC because he believed in the core values of the organization. He quickly became friends with founding president Evan Reitmeyer and they shared a common vision. In May 2008 John was elected president of the ADJA-DC Chapter, during his tenure he hopes to improve the reputation of the DC chapter and the ADJA.

Vice President: Dick Dyszel

Dick Dyszel has been a professional entertainer and Host-MC on TV as Channel 20''s Bozo, Captain 20 and Count Gore De Vol, became area''s first all Digital Mobile DJ in 1986, and has been an active entertainer on the Internet since 1998. Dick has been an active member of the ADJA for over 5 years in two different chapters. His company, “Sounds Fabulous” specializes in classic and elegant wedding receptions and he personally has provided entertainment and hosting services for over 1,000 weddings and receptions.

Secretary: Hampton Thomas

Hampton Thomas is the founder of Special Occassion Music. In the time that his company has been serving Northern Virginia he has distinguished himself as a professional that really has a heart for this industry and the clients that he serves. Perfection is what he constantly strives for and it''s his commitment to excellence that sets him apart. The strength of any business, especially a mobile one such Special Occasions music needs to really have the logistics down perfectly. His time as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Military prepared him for his current business, and the discipline and focus He has learned there is a hallmark of his company. It is his superb focus on the details, coupled with his talent for selecting and playing the appropriate mix of music that has led to his success as a wedding DJ and an officer in the DC chapter of the ADJA.

Treasurer: Michael Cowles

Michael Cowles began his DJ career working in High School with Armed Forces Radio in Germany as an intern. He would DJ parties for classmates as well and spin records at the the local german discos on weekends. He continued this path upon joining the military as a broadcaster. Upon his return to the United States he brought Horizon Musicfest to these shores. He acquired Key Natural Sound, Capital Party Authority and Dominion Entertaiment, and reorganized in 2002 as Horizon Entertainment. He maintains a staff of 10 excellent DJs and provides his brides and grooms with a truly unique approach to Disc Jockey Entertaiment, fielding the latest audio, computer and wireless technnology coupled with a highly personable appraoch to DJ demeanor.

Membership Director: Jake Ritchie

Jake Ritchie, owner of Dream Day Djs, got his start aboard a yacht back in 1991 making mix tapes and hosting Latin dance party cruises in beautiful Bayside Waterfront Miami, Florida. Moving north in 1995, he established his roots in Warrenton, Virginia where he resides today as a full-time single op DJ. Jake is the founder of the DJ Meeting of The Minds Conference & The DJMMC Awards & Appreciation Dinner, both were with the purpose to educate, appreciate, and network DJ’s in MD, DC, & VA areas. Jake also has won the WEDJ.com Disc Jockey Competition aboard Carnival Cruise Lines during the WEDJ Convention Cruise in 2004 and has been nominated for Warrenton Virginia’s Best 2008.

Member At Large: Program Director - Mark Harman

/Mark Harman has been associated with music one way or another throughout his entire lifetime. His family consists of several musically enhanced members which have "attributed" to his passion for music. One in particular is his Sister. She is a singer/songwriter and is also the VP for marketing up and coming music talent for Shadow Mountain Music Group in Nashville Tn. Mark has also recently been associated with the company as an "adviser on current music" and has implemented his musical and audio/video engineering abilities to the new Remix and Ring tone Division for "up and coming" artists. /

 / Mark began Dj-ing back in 1990 when his sister introduced him to his present day passion. He auditioned for a large production company and he was "bit" by the bug from that moment on. He has "toured" up and down the east coast and has worked several of the nightclubs in the Washington DC. area between 1990 and 1998. He then ventured out on his own and began "Dj Mark" Productions, which he did part time, to "hone" his skills until 2004 when he married the woman of his dreams. In 2005 he started the expansion of his company to become a full time single op Dj Company and changed the name to Harmany Dj''s. In 2007 he began a partnership with a professional sound lighting and stage company and can now accommodate between 50 and 15,000 guests at any event. In 2007 he also became a member of the Washington area American Disc Jockey Association and in 2008 became the Program Director of the DC Association. /

/ Mark prides himself on his professionalism and knowledge of music and ability to "work" a crowd . Be it a small party to a grande event like a wedding, he takes the time to put his all into every aspect of that event./
